Ten years of
talking shop.
DPC Hub grew out of a group of Kansas City area practices that started meeting about ten years ago and never stopped.
How it started
About ten years ago, a handful of direct primary care practices in the Kansas City area started getting together every few months. There was no organization and no plan: just physicians who had left the insurance treadmill and wanted to compare notes with people who understood.
It grew. Today about 35 Kansas City practices are part of the group. We meet every quarter or so, often with a guest speaker, to talk about running a practice, caring for patients and teaching them to be healthier. Experienced owners mentor new ones, members share the specialists and services they trust, and the conversation after the meeting ends is often the best part.
The lounge we lost
Every hospital used to have a room down the hall where physicians could talk freely: a quick question, a hard case, a bad day. Independent practice is rewarding, but it can be lonely, and that room is long gone. Without quite meaning to, our group became that room.
Why DPC Hub
For years the group ran on a mailing list and a chat channel, where good answers scrolled away within a week. And physicians in other cities kept asking how to build something like it near them.
DPC Hub answers both: a private, organized home for our conversations, and ready-made tools so any region can build its own group with a volunteer or two, without starting from scratch.
Who runs it
Volunteers from our own practices. DPC Hub isn't a company or an association: there are no dues, no officers, and nobody speaks for the group. Every member is verified, so you know who's in the room. Our guidelines explain how it all works.
DPC Hub is brand new. If anything is confusing or broken, tell us at admin@DPCHub.org. We read every note.
